Naples Hurricane Ian recovery in Collier County shows amazing progress

Naples Hurricane Ian recovery is full steam ahead after the storm ravaged parts of Southwest Florida just over a month ago, and most areas are showing incredible progress.

The storm made landfall on Cayo Costa Island in Lee County on September 28, packing powerful 150 mph sustained winds, making it one of the most powerful storms to ever hit Southwest Florida. In Lee County, many coastal areas, such as Fort Myers Beach and Sanibel, suffered major damage, however, farther south in Collier County, communities were spared the widespread impact.

As Naples residents, we've seen ups and downs in our community and have overcome some difficult times over the years. We grieve with our community for the great loss of lives, homes, and property from Hurricane Ian.

Over the past several weeks, we have been seeing signs of normalcy returning to our Naples waterfront area. More questions are being answered and more relief is being provided. We anticipate a strong return this coming winter and spring season here along the Naples beach.

According to Gulfshore Business, Paul Beirnes, executive director of Collier County’s visitor and convention bureau, more than 80% of all hotel rooms are open for business in the county and things are changing remarkably quickly.

In new aerial video, you can get a sense of the coastal recovery with clean white-sand beaches and clear Gulf waters.

Early indications also show that Hurricane Ian failed to upset Naples’ housing market resilience. We are amazed by the progress that has already been made here.
