New luxury waterfront condos coming to Naples

Naples Beach Club Condos will provide about 150 new luxury residences on premier beachfront property in the Coquina Sands and The Moorings areas in Naples, FL.

The new waterfront condominiums are part of a $250-million redevelopment project at the site of the Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club, which closed in May 2021.

The project includes replacing the 319-room hotel with a 216-room luxury hotel as well as beachside and golf-side residences. In addition, there will be a small Market Square for guests, residents and neighbors that will be anchored by a restaurant with a bowling alley and the resort’s full-service spa and fitness facility. A Gulf Shore Garden will be created along Gulf Shore Boulevard.

The hotel could be replaced with a five-star Four Seasons resort. The Athens Group, which purchased the property and is redeveloping it, has a letter of intent for the world-renowned brand to operate the five-star resort that will replace the landmark Naples Beach Hotel.

Naples Beach Club is expected to be complete in late 2024.

Golf, tennis & plenty of other amenities

The championship golf course will continue to be part of the resort lifestyle available to hotel guests, residents and the community. The course was drastically renovated in 2016 by Jack Nicklaus and architect John Sanford.

Tennis will remain a part of the amenities as well. In addition, there will be a spa, fitness center with two treatment rooms, pool, private dining, game room, and other recreational amenities and experiences.

The popular HB’s on the Gulf and the Sunset Beach Bar will be renovated and will re-open to the public.

An important part of Naples' history lives on

The Naples Beach Hotel & Resort has deep roots in the history of Southwest Florida. The original hotel, called The Naples Hotel, was built in the 1880s. It was located a little over a mile south of the current hotel.

In 1946, a retired toy manufacturer from Ohio named Henry Watkins Sr., purchased it. He created a new beach resort between the golf course and the Gulf of Mexico.

Three generations of the Watkins family ran the hotel until they sold it to the Athens Group in 2019. The resort closed in May 2021 and the project is expected to be complete in 2023.
