Naples Canoe Races
The 33rd annual Great Dock race took place on Saturday, one of Naples’ longest traditions. It starts off with a themed canoe parade, followed by races in three heats. The theme this year was “It’s a Jungle Out There.” The course is about 3 miles in length going from Crayton Cove, around City Dock, then to the Riverwalk at Tin City and finally back to Crayton Cove. Every year the races continue to bring in larger crowds. The total estimate this year was over 60 boaters.
The proceeds from this year’s canoe race go to CHS Healthcare Early Health Initiative, a program that provides medical and dental care for children under the age of 5. This year’s first place prize for the themed parade was an evening cruise for four on the Sweet liberty and dinner at the Dock Restaurant.
