Florida k-12 schools offer degrees online
The first group of Florida students will be able to get their diplomas through taking online classes starting this fall. There will be virtual schools for each grade from kindergarten through 12th grade. These online classes help students move through at their own pace, with the help of a “learning coach.” The parents of a child applying for the program much sign a contracting stating that they will participate as a learning coach for a minimum of 5 hours a day, and 25 hours a week. The Collier County School District’s program allows students to be able to obtain their degree by taking online courses, while still allowing them to be social and participate in sports and other organizations. This program will be offered by two different companies, one of which already has 80,000 who use their program for online education.
