Naples High to be featured on NBC

High school football has long been a wildly popular attraction here in town, but now one of our teams will be featured on national television:

Naples High School is the final stop on an eight-city tour of high school football teams for an NBC mini show called “Line of Scrimmage.” The show will air on NBC Sunday night football during halftime for two 45-second segments — Sept. 9 through Dec. 30, when Naples’s segment will air.

The show, hosted by two college-aged sports fans who earned the job through auditions, has sought out representative high school football programs from around the country. Naples High, with its recent tradition of success (including a perfect 7-0 record so far this year) and involvement in the community (the football team mentors youth players and reads books to elementary school children), was an easy choice to represent the Southwest Florida area.
