Pelican Bay Foundation

Pelican Bay was founded upon preservation, conservation, and development. More than 2,330 acres were purchased from Barron Collier of the Collier family in 1972 by Coral Ridge Properties (CRP). CRP, a division of Westinghouse (later known as Westinghouse Community Development Corporation and eventuallyWCI Communities Inc.) hired the Environmental Planning and Design Firm (EPD) to carry out the plans for what is today called as, “a model of environmental planning”.

Pelican Bay was originally referred to as Clam Bay, but was renamed to Pelican Bay in 1974. The mangrove forest were designated a natural resource protection area by Collier County in 1982.

As the master developerWCI set a number of common areas aside that would be maintained in perpetuity under the guidance of the Pelican Bay Foundation, the master home owner’s association. Residents pay dues to the Foundation and taxes to the Pelican Bay Services Division (PBSD). The PBSD is an advisory board of Collier County and maintains areas such as street-scape beautification, street lighting, water management and mangrove maintenance.

Today, the Foundation currently maintains 43 acres of parks and recreation areas including four beachfront restaurants, two tennis facilities, Community and Fitness Center. Residents enjoy a plethora of private amenities. The finest amenities at Pelican Bay are the two beach locations. The beach is accessible to residents on foot or by solar powered trams. Elegant and casual dining are available at the four beachfront restaurants. The Community Center at Pelican Bay houses a state-of-the-art fitness centerwellness studiocomputer centerart studio and meeting rooms. Two tennis facilities are located with Pelican Bay and are equipped with a total of 18 Har-tru courts.

A variety of social and cultural activities are put on each year for residents. These activities utilize talent within the Pelican Bay community, focus on community issues, and provide arts and educational programs along with an array of social events. Pelican Bay offers exclusive logo apparel at the seasonal beach store and at both tennis pro shop locations.

Aside from the amenities you will receive as a resident, the Artis-Naples is a landmark within the community and offers a multitude of events throughout the year. From extraordinary to every day, the Waterside Shops are an upscale collection of retail stores and fine dining located a short walk or bike ride from anywhere in Pelican Bay. The Inn at Pelican BayWaldorf Astoria Naples and the Ritz-Carlton, Naples are located within a five minute drive.

The Club Pelican Bay is a private, member-owned golf club, which is strategically located in the heart of our community. The Club opened in 1980 and has become one of Naples’ most desirable clubs, as its members enjoy 27 holes of challenging golf.
